I want to shrink a silk shirt.?

I want to shrink it. We have this play coming up in our school so we wear costumes and practice for it months before it starts. The problem is when I got my costume it was too big! and my too good of a teacher won’t let me change it to another size. It’s those chinese silk shirts. I want to shrink it myself if my teacher wont let me and I heard that you can shrink cotton shirts if you put them in hot water and put them in the drier? If that’s true will that work on the Silk shirt?

yeah! pop it in the washing machine then tumble dry. it worked for me!
