Wearing a Jacket or Sport coat for an interview?

I have an interview on Monday for an internship my freshman year. I do not have a suit, but I do have a very conservative navy sport coat that I could wear. The problem with the sport coat is that I must have lost weight or something because it looks two sizes two big… I would describe it as is someone were to buy a coat at goodwill, try measuring themselves with a wooden yard stick, and then trying to tailor it themselves. It looks absolutely terrible. I cannot get it re-tailored in time for Monday, so should I just wear the sport coat even though it looks terrible on me, or should i just skip the jacket and go with a white dress shirt and tie?

Do you have a vest or a solid colored thing sweater? If not, then go ahead and wear the dress shirt and tie. You should not wear the jacket not only because it looks terrible on you, but because you might be thinking too much about it during the interview or it makes you uncomfortable. The most important thing to nail down is the interview itself. Don’t forget to come up with some good questions to ask the interviewer. Many people forget that. Good luck!
